Diego Alonso is a retired Uruguayan footballer and current football manager. He was born on February 16, 1975 in Montevideo, Uruguay. Alonso had a successful playing career as a striker, playing for clubs such as Penarol, Valencia, Atletico Madrid, and Monaco.
After retiring from playing, Alonso transitioned into coaching and has had managerial stints with various clubs in Mexico, including Pachuca, Monterrey, and Atletico San Luis. He has also managed in Paraguay with Club Guarani. Alonso is known for his tactical acumen and ability to develop young talent.
In 2020, Alonso was appointed as the head coach of Major League Soccer club Inter Miami CF, where he is currently in charge of the team.
